Mum and daughter who went missing for 11 days were actually 'on holiday'

A woman and her elderly mother who were being searched for by the police after they went missing were actually on holiday in the countryside.

Elizabeth Doran, 93, and her daughter Julie Doran, 61, were reported missing after failing to return home.

Police issued an appeal for witnesses after the pair didn't return to their respective homes in Henley-on-Thames.

But it has emerged that the mother and daughter were safe and enjoying a jaunt in the area.

Police initially said they feared for the women's safety after neither had been seen since 25 September, with officers later finding CCTV footage of Julie Doran pushing her mother in a wheelchair.

In an initial appeal, Detective Sergeant Alex Willis said: "We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing Elizabeth and Julie.

"We are aware that neither of them have returned to their respective homes and we are just wishing to check that they are okay."

But on Thursday night, officers said both had been found safe and well.

According to reports, officers concluded the women had been using buses to get around and weren't in danger after all.
