Mum 'devastated' as son's dream of seeing Oasis live in Edinburgh ruined by glitch

A gutted mum claims she lost out on securing two Oasis tickets for her husband and son after a 'website glitch' meant she couldn't make her purchase.

Lesley Newman, 42, from Northumberland, was prepared to do all she could to get tickets to see the group at Murrayfield next year as it was the closest location for them.

Hoping to fulfil her 14-year-old son's dream to see the band with his dad, Lesley visited Ticketmaster on August 31 and claims she was number 23,500 in the line with a "good chance" of getting tickets.

She said it was a "disaster" and she wasn't able to complete her purchase despite being able to choose seats and getting through after an hour.

She added: "I selected two seated tickets because for a 14-year-old, I didn’t think he would be allowed to stand so I went for the seated option. I selected two tickets and further down the list it automatically kept selecting two tickets somewhere else so I had four tickets but in different locations.

"When I clicked go, the website said I couldn't buy both sets because they were in different locations - even though I didn't want two sets of tickets in the first place.

"I couldn't go any further, it wouldn't even let me delete any of the seats.

"I gave up on that and thought I would try look at the more expensive options and they were nearly £500 a ticket each.

"By this point I was fed up, I went back out to try and select a different day and I had to join the line again - it was a disaster".

Lesley's husband, Gary Newman, 42, grew up listening to Oasis with his love for the band rubbing off on their son, Oliver Newman, 14.

The 42-year-old mum says she is "devastated" for her 14-year-old and believes if the website did not glitch, she would have been in with a chance of securing tickets.

She claims after an hour of trying, Ticketmaster claimed she was a "bot" and she couldn't enter the site for two days.

She added: "The whole situation was stressful and so awful. It's also robbery at the end of the day.

"I was devastated for my son, he was so excited that I was in the line at a low number and I should have been guaranteed two tickets.

"I would try again for his benefit but he knows we can't afford to spend £500 on one ticket - it's just an awful situation to be in because as a parent, you want to do whatever you can for your child."
