A mumfluencer has gone viral on TikTok after being told by her doctor to "be quiet" whilst she was giving birth.

Taking to TikTok to share her birth story, mum-of-three Yasmyn Switzer revealed that her labour experience did not get off to the best start after first having to wait nearly an hour for a drink, despite telling nurses that she was really thirsty and at risk of dehydration. After this, Yasmyn says she was treated by an apparent trainee nurse which made her feel "really uncomfortable".

"They didn't tell me what they were really doing beforehand," she explained. "I just remember being like 'is she teaching her how to do this on me right now?' The more inexperienced one was being taught to check how dilated I was, it like was kind of painful and uncomfortable."

Going on to talk about the incident with her doctor during labour, Yasmyn told her followers: "I was in the active pushing part of labour... The doctor came in right after my water broke, like right before I started pushing. Then as I'm pushing, I'm not like screaming like high pitched screaming or even really being that loud, but I'm kind of moaning along with when I'm pushing my daughter out and just kind of listening to my body."

She went on, "In the middle of one of my contractions as I'm pushing her out and I'm making noise, the doctor goes, something along the lines of, 'I'm gonna need you to be quiet so that I can hear'."

Recalling her reaction to the shock moment, Yasmyn described the doctor's demand as "so rude" and continued on to say she "basically blacked out for a minute after she said that because I completely lost my focus and rhythm with my pushing."

"Luckily one of the nurses snapped me back into focus and was like, 'just hold your breath and push'," she added, "and I just looked at the ceiling and just pushed her out."

Understandably, plenty of TikTokers took to the comments section to share their outrage at what happened to Yasmyn. "MAKE! A! COMPLAINT!" one person replied, with someone else saying: "I would write the hospital a letter. So uncalled for! Especially at such a vulnerable time for you."

Another TikToker commented, "Jeez your literally pushing a human out of you they have no right."
