Mum Who Lived Off Egg And Chips For 30 Years Hypnotised Into Eating ‘Normal’Food

A mum-of-two who lived off just egg and chips for 30 years and even ate them on her wedding day is finally able to eat a balanced “normal” meal - after being hypnotised.

Katey Loughran, 37, had battled with Selective Eating Disorder (SED) for more than three decades.

It left her tucking into the same basic, and unhealthy, meal every single day.

She started refusing to try different or new foods when she was just 6-years-old, according to reports.

Growing up, she joked about her unusual eating habits - but said she suffered constant embarrassment whenever she tried to go out for dinner.

“People find it quite funny - I’ve always just made a joke of it, it’s the easiest way. It’s embarrassing, and it’s so hard going out for meals,” she said.

“When they bring out the food they normally think the plate of egg and chips is for one of the kids – but it’s for me,” she added.

The condition affected her whole life.

She couldn’t go to a friend’s house for dinner or out for meals with her family, because she was constantly worrying about what would be on her plate.

Katey ate separately from children Cameron, 16, and Charlie, 11, so they wouldn’t pick up her bad habits.

And when she married husband John, 40, in 2013, her guests enjoyed a slap-up meal - but all she could stomach was her staple grub.

After years of struggling, the Coventry mum sought help from hypnotherapist David Kilmurry.

He worked with her to introduce basic foods like fruit and vegetables into her diet.

And after a successful session, she was soon chowing down a whole host of different items - including pears, spinach and cucumber.

“It feels out of this world to finally put something different in my mouth - it’s so strange,” she said.

“Now, I’ve tried baked beans, broccoli, green beans - things I never would have put near my mouth before. My plate is growing every day! It’s massively changed my life for the better,” she added.
