Mum in stitches after Ring doorbell captures stranger in garden at 4am

A startled mum who was woken by her video doorbell's alert at 4am was left in stitches after reviewing the footage.

Kellie Evans was fast asleep at her family home in Bridgend, South Wales, on Sunday when the unexpected motion-triggered notification came through on her phone, jolting her awake.

Thinking one of her sons might have wandered outside, she alerted her husband Dominic and they rushed to the door. Peeking out the window, Dominic quickly determined the person on their property was a stranger, Wales Online reports.

Dominic yelled a challenge to the intruder, who quickly scarpered off. Once back inside with their home secured, the couple reviewed the footage captured by their doorbell security system.

And the video gave them a right giggle, showing the visibly disoriented man stumbling into their front yard. He wanders around the garden before trying to get over the wall, at which point he staggers and falls to the ground.

Mrs Evans said: "We'd been out to an event - we never go out - got back home and went to sleep at about midnight. At around 4am, I was alerted to the Ring alert on my phone, and it turned out to be that guy.

"It was only when we got back in and locked all the doors again and watched the video back that I saw the extent to actually how funny it was. I thought 'What are the chances of catching that?'

"I was laughing, and I've probably watched it 100 times today, and it is probably just as funny as when I watched it for the first time. You feel sorry for the man at the same time, as you think, 'Oh, that must have hurt'. You could see he had his phone out, and he seemed quite stumbly."

"I was thinking, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he wakes up and wonders: 'What the hell did I do last night?' being covered in bruises, as clearly he will not remember himself.

"Without a Ring doorbell we would never have known that someone had been out and stumbling around in our garden."
