The Mummy's London premiere has been cancelled in the wake of this week's Manchester bombing.

Universal Pictures had planned to bring the stars of its newly-announced Dark Universe to the UK next Thursday (June 1), but have opted to call the event off after Prime Minister Theresa May raised the terror threat to critical.

"All of us at Universal have been devastated by the terror attack in Manchester and continue to stand with the community and country as it recovers," a Universal spokesperson said in a statement.

"Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy we have decided not to move forward with the London premiere for The Mummy scheduled to take place next week."

This follows Warner Bros' decision to cancel Wonder Woman's London premiere, originally set for next Wednesday (May 31).

Some major events are still moving ahead, such as BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend over the Bank Holiday. On the bill to perform in Hull are Little Mix, Kings of Leon, Stormzy and Katy Perry.

22 people, including children, were killed and more than 50 others were injured when a suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at Ariana Grande's Manchester Arena concert on Monday (May 22).
