One savvy mum has shared her amazing mattress cleaning hack, guaranteeing to make the task a breeze.

Mattresses can become a canvas of unsightly marks ranging from accidental spills to the stubborn lines left by fake tanning products. Most people might wave goodbye to their mattress once it's been stained, given that you can't simply throw it in with your laundry.

However, thrifty mum Vicki Collis has come forward with a "game-changing" technique to give your mattress a new lease of life, without having to fork out a small fortune, all for the thrifty sum of £1.50.

Vicki took to Instagram to share her ordeal with a particularly stubborn stain caused by her daughter's mishap, which she thought had doomed the mattress, reports the Express. Assuming the worst, she stumbled upon a mattress-cleaning life hack online and put it to the test.

Her video post was accompanied by the caption: "The hack you didn't know you needed! Ada spilt her milk in our bed, and whilst trying to dry it we made a huge stain. I thought there was no way this would come out, but came across this mattress-cleaning hack so gave it a go.

"Wow, is all I can say! Game changer! Works on all stains and is super easy to do." This viral trick has hit the internet by storm, showcasing how a mattress can be cleaned effectively on a shoestring budget, all under £2.

Get white vinegar for around 35p at Tesco, bicarb of soda for 65p from the same supermarket, and dish soap starting at 55p from Asda. In total, it will be about £1.50 for these three staples, which combine to create a mighty cleaning concoction.

Vicki went viral with her online tutorial, where she mixed the ingredients to form a paste and showed how simple it is to remove stubborn marks with just a rag. Her clip left viewers gobsmacked as grime disappeared right before their eyes.

Vicki said: "Let it dry and vacuum off the bicarb mixture, and ta da!"

The online community hailed the mother's brilliant advice, and one said: "Nice! That's a great tip to get stains off mattresses." Another added: "Great hack."

Echoing the sentiment, a third said: "I'll be trying this for a New Year refresh!"
