A mum has shared a clever ironing hack which she claims cuts the chore in half. Gemma Bird, who is known for her money-saving tips, took to Instagram to demonstrate how she speeds up her ironing routine.

Gemma insists that this nifty trick not only slashes ironing time but also helps to reduce household bills. In an Instagram video, she showed how foil could be solution to many people's problems, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

In the video, she said: "Hate ironing. Plus it costs money and takes time. Get some tin foil. Take off the ironing board cover, wrap the board in the foil, replace the cover."

Gemma continued: "You will only need to iron one side as the foil reflects the heat taking care of the other side saving you time and money on energy. Plus if you're like me and hate ironing it's a win win!"

Gemma's hack is one that she said can be used again and again. She said: [There's] no need to change the foil. You can keep same one for months! Make sure put on smooth. And good tip pull cover back to let it air."

The post on Gemma's moneymumofficial account left many shocked and stunned - for all the right reasons. One said: "Oh wow. I need to try this."

A second said: "Wow. What a game changer!". A third claimed the hack was "clever" while others labelled Gemma a "genius".

Others went one step further and even offered their own suggestions. One said: "I learnt a good tip. A hairdryer over the creases decrease clothing. Did it the other day. Or a dryer or steamer does the job too."

A second agreed, saying: "I do that on holiday when I don't have a iron. I wash all my clothes at night and hang dry by morning they are damp dry and I use the hairdryer.. They are as good as ironed."

Others weren't as impressed with the hack. One said they only ironed "one side" of their clothes anyway, while some suggested not ironing at all. One other responder made light of the situation. They said: "What's an iron?"
