Mum's horror as son could lose sight as 'bounty' saw him violently gang attacked
A mum has spoken of her shock and horror after her 18-year-old son was hospitalised following a brutal attack on a city street. The young man and his friend, a 13-year-old boy, were set upon after disorder broke out on Pype Hayes Road in Tyburn shortly after 7pm on November 15.
The pair were believed to have been on a motorbike when they were knocked off in Birmingham and viscously assaulted by a group of people wielding weapons, leaving them both in hospital. West Midlands Police confirmed the 18-year-old suffered "serious head injuries" while the 13-year-old boy suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
An eyewitness, speaking on anonymity, said the attack was "so nasty" and recalled how a neighbour came out of a house screaming for it to stop before being threatened. They said: "When the police came, they taped off the road, there was blood on the pavement and the moped was lying on the road." Officers also towed away a car, it was claimed.

The mum of the 18-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, said her son underwent eight hours of surgery. There are fears he could lose the vision in one eye. He suffered multiple stab wounds to his arms and elbows alongside a fractured jaw, while the attackers through his eyebrow, his eyelids and eyeball.
They also took off his helmet and used it to strike him over the head multiple times, the mum claims. The 13-year-old was also stabbed in his back, it was said.
Before the attack, the 18-year-old's family claimed his face had been posted on social media accompanied by dollar signs, claiming a price was put over her son's head. She said he'd previously 'been a victim'.
It was claimed a warrant had been out for her son, who had allegedly breached his bail before the attack. The mum said it led to difficulties with the police seeing him in hospital.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, the mum said: "I have been sleeping in the car, I have been sleeping by vending machines in hospitals. I don't he will recover from this, I am scared for him. I'm scared for the kids in the area. This is an ongoing problem. The amount of kids that have been admitted to hospital is disgusting."
