Mum's plea to find lads who bundled bleeding son into back of their car
A mum rushed to hospital after her son rang her to explain his brother had been taken away in a car with three men and a teen. Laura Reed was at home when she received a phone call from her son, Kylan, who had been out with his older brother, Tyler, and a group of friends.
While they were out in Preston city centre, the schoolboy had perched on a small wall before standing up and tripping on the curb, hitting his head on a brick wall in front of him. His friends and younger brother were quick to crowd around to see if he was okay.
But as blood poured from his face, it was the actions of a group of quick-thinking "scouse lads" who ran over and used a towel from the car they were in to try and stem the bleeding before calling an ambulance. After ten minutes, with no ambulance appearing, the lads picked the 14-year-old up, put him in their car and drove him to Royal Preston Hospital.
Laura, a business development manager, told the ECHO how she believes if it wasn't for the group's actions her son could have died. The 38-year-old from Bamber Bridge said: "When the lads turned up I think Tyler was surrounded by a group of boys and they thought something sinister had happened but it was just his friends.
"They wanted to get him away so that's why they put him in the car and drove him to the hospital when the ambulance didn't arrive. He was on a low wall, jumped up to his feet and his vision has gone because he's stood up too quick. He's then stumbled and tripped on the curb, face planting the the wall.
"He's fractured his forehead and cheekbone and has an awful gash on his forehead. He's lucky to be alive, it would have been a lot worse if his mates were the ones looking after him."
Tyler was outside Level, an entertainment venue in the Preston, when it happened, and Laura is now looking for the people who took him to hospital. She continued: "It was just so horrendous and I think that's why it didn't even cross my mind to ask for their names. When I spoke to the scouse man on the phone who was in the car with Tyler, I asked him if I needed to prepare myself and he said I needed to prepare myself because it was horrific.
"When I got to the hospital he was waiting for me and he led me to where Tyler was getting treated and I just ran into the room. That was the last I saw of him."
Laura claims the man she spoke to was around 6ft 5in and had a scouse accent, with the others having a similar accent according to Tyler. The group of three men and a teenager were also thought to have been wearing shirts with the words "eco" on them with a logo that resembles a leaf.
Since he suffered the injuries at the weekend, Tyler's head has swelled, with his mum describing him as "unrecognisable" because of the injuries. Air has got into his brain, with the teen now suffering "traumatic amnesia where he keeps getting words muddled up and is very slow answering questions". Laura explained doctors have told her it is not permanent, but could last several months.
