Murder arrest after man dies after incident at block of flats

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an incident at a block of flats. Police and paramedics were called to an address on Spellow Lane in Walton at around 6.10pm on Tuesday, November 26 following reports of a concern for safety.

Merseyside Police initially said a 65-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later. However they have since confirmed medics provided emergency treatment and CPR, but the man died at the scene.

A 52-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station, where he will be interviewed by detectives.

Merseyside Police said an investigation is underway into the man's death which is currently being treated as unexplained. Forensic officers have now arrived at the scene on Spellow Lane which is a short distance away from Goodison Park.

Police and forensics can be seen coming and going from a block of flats on the road and a cordon remains in place. House-to-house inquiries are also underway. Detectives will be checking CCTV footage from the local area as part of the investigation.
