Murder Charge After Woman Stabbed To Death

A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder after a young woman was stabbed to death in Essex.

Detectives are still at the scene where the 21-year-old, who has been named in reports as Laura Davies, was attacked.

It happened just before 8.15pm on Friday night near a horse sanctuary in Wat Tyler Park, Pitsea, east of Basildon.

Jordan Taylor, of Churchill Avenue, Basildon, was charged late on Saturday and is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on Monday.

A 20-year-old man from Basildon, who was also being questioned by police, has been released without charge.

Police, who have not confirmed the identity of the victim, said a post-mortem examination showed she suffered multiple stab wounds.

She was flown to hospital and died hours later.
