Murder inquiry launched as man in his 30s fatally stabbed in Newham

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing in east London.

Emergency service were scrambled to an address where they found the victim, in his 30s, with fatal injuries.

They were alerted at 03.40am on Friday to reports of a man with stab wounds in Ringlet Close, Newham.

Paramedics battled to save him but he died just over half an hour later.

His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be held at a date yet to be fixed.

Forensics officers have been combing through the address in the hunt for clues.

Meanwhile, detectives have been carrying out door to door inquiries and collecting any CCTV footage from the area.

Officers from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and enquiries continue to establish how the man came by his injuries.

They would like speak with anyone with information, particularly anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of Ringlet Close in the early hours of this morning.

The property has been cordoned off as the police investigation continues.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

She was taken to an east London police station where she remains in custody.
