Murder probe at holiday camp after woman found with ‘significant’ injury
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a holiday campsite.
The victim, a woman in her 50s, was found suffering a “significant injury” by officers rushing to the camp in Brean at 4.50pm on Wednesday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene just 30 minutes later at the caravan camp minutes away from Brean beach in Somerset.
A 70-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: “Despite the best efforts of officers, the woman was sadly pronounced deceased at around 5.20pm.
“While formal identification has not yet taken place, her next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
DI Neil Meade said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family during this time and we would like to reassure them and the local community that our MCIT will carry out a full and thorough investigation to establish the facts.
“Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the next few days, but I would like to reassure them that, at this stage, we believe there is no wider risk to the public and this is an isolated incident.”
