A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following a street fight in south London.

The 32-year-old was found collapsed in London Road, Morden, on Thursday night, police said.

He was taken to a south London hospital in a critical condition but died on Friday night.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday and remains in custody in a south London police station.

The man’s death came as a separate murder investigation was launched after a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Finsbury Park.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in north London in the early hours of Saturday morning after being found with stabbed in Roth Walk.

Another man, aged 21, was also found with stab wounds in nearby Seven Sisters Road and was taken to hospital in a non-life threatening condition.

He was later arrested on suspicion of affray, police said.

Scotland Yard said its homicide unit was investigating the attack in Merton.

A spokesman said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 22:17hrs on Thursday, 19 April, after ambulance staff suspected that a man collapsed on London Road in Morden had been assaulted.

“The 32-year-old man was taken to a south London hospital in a critical condition. He died at 23:45hrs on Friday, 20 April.

“Officers have established that the victim was involved in a fight with a man in the street.

“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, 20 April and taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.”
