Music company launched in Hull to help local artists
A new music company has launched in Hull to help boost the careers of fledgling local artists.
Ultrascope Music Group specialises in record label services, distribution and publishing, with the aim of creating new opportunities for local performers.
Its founder Ronith Tony told Hull Live why choosing the city was so important to him. "So all these years I've been living in Hull - I've been here since I was a kid - and really, growing up I've always been a music lover, and a business lover so it was kind of a 'how can I combine these together?'", he said.

Seeing the difficulties for a local artist to "make it", Ronith came up with an idea.
"I was seeing a lack of opportunities in this industry specifically. There are people out there, but not for people from Hull, to break out onto the international stage. So I want to build something core to Hull, something to put artists out there and music out there. It's a company founded in Hull, grown in Hull and born and bred in Hull."
Ronith says that the company can distribute music to more than 220 different platforms, without the need for a third-party distributor. This personalised approach ensures that all creatives under Ultrascope Music Group’s wing receive tailored guidance, enabling them to maximise their potential and break into international markets.
Among the company's first signings was JT - one of Hull's most promising and dynamic artists. JT's journey began during the lockdowns, and has quickly made a name for himself in the industry, earning widespread recognition and accolades, including BBC features.
With six artists already on Ultrascope's books in just two months of operation, Ronith hopes to have 15 artists by the end of the year. At some point in 2025, Ronith has planned a huge launch party, with many of the artists from Hull and the wider region to perform together.
Ronith added: “Artists in Hull no longer need to sign up with American companies like DistroKid or TuneCore. Now, they have a local option right in their own home city that offers all the same services and more.”
