A song recorded by Liam Payne will be released this week following the singer's death, with the other artist featured on the track saying he hopes it will be a "blessing" to his family.

The former One Direction star made Do No Wrong with North Carolina singer Sam Pounds before he died aged 31 on October 16, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. On Monday, Sam confirmed that the song, alongside live mix and a cappella versions, will be available to stream on Friday, November 1.

Sharing a link to pre-save the single and its artwork, which features a silhouette of a figure with angel wings and a broken heart, Sam wrote on X: "I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all every day while listening."

He added: "I pray that this song will be a blessing to Ruth, Bear, and the entire family. I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes."

Liam's sister Ruth penned a heartbreaking tribute following his death, promising her brother and "best friend" that the family would "take care" of Bear, his seven-year-old son that he shared with singer Cheryl. All of Liam's former One Direction bandmates were also among those who shared their own tributes, with all five of the band's studio albums returning to the top 40 in the UK music chart last week as fans streamed the music in Liam's memory.

Fans responded to news of the release of Do No Wrong to tell Sam how much it means to them that they will have the chance to listen to unheard music from Liam in the wake of his death. "We love and miss him so much but having at least a song out that Liam was excited to release gives a little comfort," one wrote in reply to Sam's post.

"I'm genuinely crying just thinking about hearing new music from him," another fan admitted. "Liam deserved more than he received in the end and we're so honoured you're sharing this with us."

And a third said: "Thank you so much for this Sam. Liam's legacy will live on forever."
