Murder detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was allegedly found bound and gagged at her home in a north London suburb.

The body of the woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered by police at an address in Muswell Hill, on Thursday night.

The Sun reported that police found the woman tied up and are investigating whether the incident was a robbery which went wrong.

A post mortem examination will take place on Saturday morning to establish a cause of death.

A Met Police spokesman said: “At this early stage, the death is being treated as suspicious. Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

“There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.”

Officers believe they know who the woman is but are awaiting formal identification.

Police were called to the address in Hill Road shortly after 7pm on Thursday.
