Mya-Lecia Naylor death: Emily Atack leads tributes to CBBC actress after she died suddenly aged 16

Emily Atack has led tributes to young CBBC actress Mya-Lecia Naylor after her sudden death aged just 16.

The teen is thought to have died after collapsing on April 7, but her cause of death remains unclear.

Mya-Lecia starred alongside Emily, Fleur East and Tess Daly on CBBC show Almost Never.

Actress Emily, who apeared I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, writing: “So shocked and sad to hear about lovely Mya-Lecia Naylor.

"She was a beautiful and talented girl. A complete joy to be around on the set of Almost Never. Sending all my love to her family & friends. Rest in peace beautiful girl x”

Mya-Lecia’s first TV role came as a toddler when she appeared in Absolutely Fabulous as Saffy’s daughter Jane.

She also starred in blockbuster Cloud Atlas, alongside Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, and ITV series Tati’s Hotel.

Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel, who is represented by the same agency, tweeted: “Very sad to hear the tragic news of Mya-Lecia Naylor’s passing.

“She was a part of the @aj_management family who represent me in the UK. Although I did not know her personally, I wanted to send my condolences to her family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”

Millie Inbetween co-star Rhianna Merralls said: “Rest in peace Mya-Lecia Naylor. The Millie Inbetween cast is like a family to me and the show has such a special place in my heart. Mya was a great friend and I'm so lucky to have known her. We are heartbroken. Thank you for all the messages & I'm sending love to Mya’s family.”

Almost Never writer Paul Rose added: “Found out the heartbreaking news last week that Mya-Lecia Naylor has died. I'd been writing scripts for S2 of Almost Never since last year, all featuring Mya's character. Far too young, and a huge loss for all on the show. My heart goes out to her family.”

BBC presenter Talisha Johnson tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the passing of CBBC actress Mya-Lecia Naylor - although just 16, what a legacy she's left for CBBC fans all over the UK who watched and loved the TV shows she starred in. Rest in peace sweets.”

A&J Management also posted a tribute to the teen on Twitter after deleting her Instagram posts "to show respect for her privacy."

They said: “It is with the deepest sorrow we have to announce that on Sunday 7th April Mya-Lecia Naylor, very sadly, died. Mya-Lecia was hugely talented and a big part of A&J, we will miss her greatly. Our love and thoughts are with all her family and friends at this difficult time.”
