Police fired tear gas and water cannons at demonstrators in Mandalay, Myanmar, who on February 9 were protesting the military takeover in the country, local media reported.
Local news reports said at least 100 people were detained by police during the protest in Mandalay following the announcement of a curfew and ban on gatherings of five or more people set by the military-controlled government.
Ongoing protests across Myanmar called for the release of ousted leaders, including Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected officials who were detained during the military takeover following its allegations of fraud in the November election won by Suu Kyi’s party, reports said.
