Mychael Knight dead: Project Runway star dies age 39

Mychael Knight — best known for coming fourth in the third season of Project Runway, an American reality TV show — has died aged 39.

TMZ reports that Knight died soon after checking into hospital in Georgia. He was being treated for intestinal issues and died around 7:30 AM, Tuesday, 17 October.

The Knight family has since posted a statement, reading: “We are still processing the untimely death of our son, brother, friend, and uncle.

“Mychael meant everything to us and we loved him dearly. He was generous and so full of life. This is how we choose to remember his legacy.”

No cause of death has been revealed. Earlier this year, Knight spoke publicly about battling Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Writing on Facebook, the Runway star wrote: “this year has really taken a toll on my health… badly.” He detailed having IBS, explaining how the disorder doesn’t allow his body to absorb nutrients properly.

Knight also wrote about having a “leaky gut”, an opening in the intestines that causes toxins from food to leak into the bloodstream and can cause various diseases.

Following his appearance on Runway, Knight enjoyed a successful career in the fashion world, launching a clothing label and fragrance.
