A Leicestershire pyrotechnics company has denied it was behind a reported UFO above the city's skies - deepening the mystery about the lights' origins. The unusual display was captured on camera, but what they belong to remains unsolved.

The lights were seen close to Leicester's Abbey Park on Saturday, November 2 by Frazer McAllistair who claimed to have seen the "circular green lights" drifting silently through the smoky evening air. Since the original story was published, a number of comments have suggested the lights belonged to Lutterworth-based company Aerosparx.

However, the firm, which does sky displays involving drones and fireworks, have dismissed their involvement in the lights. Aerosparx pilot Rob Barsby told LeicestershireLive: "Aerosparx get mistaken for UFOs a lot. This wasn’t to do with us, we weren’t flying at the time of the sighting."

In the photos taken by Mr McAllistair, the 'UFO' is seen as a number of lights in the Leicester sky. Shepshed man Mr McAllistair, who had been in the area for the night's firework celebrations, had previously believed a firework was responsible. However, he became more puzzled by the way it glided in the sky.

He said: "I thought it was a firework going sideways rather than up, but it didn't burn out. By the time I tried to take a second photo, the lights had completely disappeared."

Aerosparx may have denied being the source of the lights, but Mr Barsby did offer a more mundane answer to what the lights could have been - and it's not alien life in Leicester. He said: "It could’ve been a reflection of some kind."

Leicestershire Police said that it had received no reports of a mystery object flying over Abbey Park on November 2.
