After being on Cheryl and Liam baby watch for what feels like forever, the couple have welcomed a baby boy – and celebrity friends of the couple are congratulating them on their new arrival.

Sharing the happy news on Instagram, Cheryl revealed that their son was born on Wednesday (March 22) and while he hasn't been given a name, she did post an adorable snap of the new daddy cradling his son.

"On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream," Cheryl shared.

"Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever."

Obviously, as well as the usual fan reactions taking over Twitter, their friends, colleagues and celeb pals have taken to social media to congratulate the new parents.

"Congratulations @cherylofficial I am so so happy for you & your precious little boy & family! Sending you loads of love!" Nadine wrote.

Cheryl and Liam first met in 2008 when Liam entered The X Factor for the first time while Cheryl was a judge.

They were reacquainted on the 2010 show when Liam tried his luck at auditioning solo again – before finding global success as part of One Direction.

And the pair announced that they were an item in February 2016, a few weeks after Cheryl announced she was splitting from her then-husband, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
