Protesters marched through Rochester, New York, on September 3 in response to the death of Daniel Prude after an arrest in March.
In this clip, protesters can be heard shouting “Say his name, Daniel Prude,” and “black lives matter.”
Police bodycam footage released on September 2 shows the encounter between Prude and Rochester police. The footage shows officers pressing their body weight on Prude while trying to restrain him during an arrest on March 23.
Officers then covered Prude’s head with a “spit bag”. He lost consciousness and later died in hospital, according to news reports. His death was caused by “complications of asphyxia in the setting of physical restraint,” reports said.
On September 3 it was announced that seven officers involved in Prude’s arrest were suspended by Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren. Credit: @sno_whyte via Storyful
