Jay McGuiness Wins Strictly Come Dancing 2015
Your Strictly Come Dancing 2015 champions are Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani!
The couple waltzed off with the Glitterball Trophy after beating Kellie Bright and partner Kevin Clifton, as well as Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice, in the final dance-off.
Earlier in the results show, BBC Radio 3 presenter Katie Derham and dance partner Anton Du Beke finished the competition in fourth place. This marked the first time Anton has made the final in his 13 years on Strictly.
EastEnders star Kellie and partner Kevin were the hot contenders on the dancefloor tonight as their show-stopping Tango earned maximum marks from the judges - including a 10 from notoriously spiky judge Craig Revel Horwood.
“The characterisation was phenomenal. Sharp as you wanted it, clean as you wanted it… FAB-U-LOUS, darling!” said Craig.
Their showdance was equally well received by the judges as they earned another 40.
"It was EXTRAORDINARY!” said Darcey Bussell.
The first dance tonight was selected by the judges and saw the four remaining celebrities once again perform dances from earlier in the series.
The showdance, meanwhile, aimed to compile the best elements of their dancing over the weeks in one flawless routine.
But not all of the showdances won over the judges, as Jay and Aliona’s dance was criticised.
“I was disappointed, I really was. I know you’re capable of so much more. It felt for me that there wasn’t a build or any particular climax,” said Craig.
Darcey Bussell critiqued, “I especially had high expectations of you … you just needed to go out with a bang."
Despite the criticism, the public ultimately felt Jay deserved the Glitterball Trophy.
