Nancy Pelosi sarcastically clapping Donald Trump becomes instant viral hit
There is no love lost between Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – something that was clear to see during the State of the Union address.
Ms Pelosi, the de facto leader of the Democrats who has refused to grant funds for Trump’s wall at the Mexican border, sat relatively still while her political rival addressed Congress.
But it was after Trump called for an end to ‘revenge politics’ between Democrats and Republicans that Ms Pelosi suddenly became more animated:

Standing straight up, the House Speaker aimed her applause directly at the President – with her eyebrows sarcastically raised.
Trump turned round and faced Ms Pelosi as she stretched out her arms and clapped directly into his face.
Unsurprisingly, her reaction became an instant meme:

Ms Pelosi, who won plaudits from Democrats for her hardline negotiating tactics during the government shutdown, wrote to her party on Monday to say that she hoped to ‘hear a commitment from the President on issues that have bipartisan support in the Congress and the Country, such as lowering the price of prescription drugs and rebuilding America’s infrastructure’.
Despite the shutdown, the US economy added 304,000 jobs in January, marking 100 straight months of job growth – the longest period on record.
