Nantes president hits out at 'nonsense' £84m takeover bid from Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold
FC Nantes president Waldemar Kita has put the record straight this afternoon after reports surfaced linking Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander Arnold with a sensational takeover at the Ligue 1 club.
On Thursday evening, L'Equipe claimed the Reds defender was interested in buying the Ligue 1 side, through his investment firm which is run by his father. The bid amounted to a reported £84m (€100m), including a straight £67m (€80m) plus a seller credit of £17m (€20m) accompanied by various bonuses of up to £33.5m (€40m).
Polish businessman Kita is reportedly open to sell the Ligue 1 outfit, given the league's inability to land a lucrative TV deal along with other factors, but is said to be furious about the leaked approach. RMC Sport say the Nantes president has categorically denied any contact with the Liverpool star, branding the report 'bull****'.

“If this is true? Where does this come from? Trent Alexander-Arnold? But I don’t even know!” Kita said. “I just spoke with my lawyer, I asked him: ‘Who is this guy -there?’ He told me that his father was in finance and that they have a few players and other agents.
“I’ve never had a video conference with anyone. It’s nonsense. what. (…) It’s not serious.”
The Liverpool academy graduate is already an investor in F1 Racing team Alpine alongside some big name stars, including Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny as well as megastars Rory McIlroy and Anthony Joshua.
The Liverpool Echo understands that the takeover links were wide of the mark, with the 25-year-old not ready to be a football club owner. The right-back, who is out of contract in the summer, has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, though the Nantes owner has invited the Reds star to join the French outfit instead.
Kita added: "Trent Alexander-Arnold, if he wants to be president and play… That way he would only play one match a week, it would be calmer for him!"
