Yahoo News Narcos s4 won't happen unless it can be 'made safe'
Pedro Pascal has suggested that a fourth season of Netflix series Narcos won't happen until there are guarantees that it can be made "safe".
A location scout named Carlos Muñoz Portal, employed by the show, was shot dead while working in Mexico earlier this month.
A friend of his (via El Pais) has claimed that Portal was freelancing for Narcos season four – which reportedly focuses on the Juárez drug cartel in Mexico – at the time.
Pascal, known for his role as Javier Peña, told TMZ that there has to be a "safe way" to do the show.
"We can't do it if it's not safe," he said. "We're talking about lives.
"If they want to do it, then they'll figure it out in a safe way."
Netflix earlier said in a statement: "We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family.
"The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate."
According to Variety, Portal's death has raised the question of whether production will continue in Mexico or move back to Colombia.
Meanwhile, Pablo Escobar's brother Roberto de Jesus Escobar Gaviria has called on Netflix to change their security protocols, even suggesting that they should hire "hitmen".
"You have to eliminate all threats," he told The Hollywood Reporter last week. "If you have the intellect, you don't need to use weapons. If not, you have to.
"In this case, Netflix should provide hitmen to their people as security."
