Nasa Astronaut Takes Space Selfie Using An Earthshine Filter

Life in the International Space Station (ISS) must get pretty boring despite being able to look down on earth like a Martian.

You’ve got to keep things interesting as Nasa astronaut Scott Kelly has illustrated by taking selfies at different points of the space station’s orbit of earth.

In using the natural glow from earth as a filter for his photos, different regions produced different lighting conditions for his selfie.

As his tweeted photos show below - the ‘earthshine’ from the North African desert produces a warm and bright filter whereas the Mediterranean sea creates a starker and blue tinged image.

The time difference between these two selfies if you are wondering was merely a matter of seconds.
