NASA Captures Footage of Hurricane Ian From International Space Station

NASA shared footage of Hurricane Ian as seen from the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday, September 26.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) upgraded Ian to a category 2 hurricane after it recorded wind speeds of over 100 mph.

The NHC said parts of western Cuba could expect life-threatening storm surges, hurricane-force winds and flash floods by Tuesday evening.

“Efforts to protect life and property should be rushed to completion,” the center said.

Meanwhile, in Florida, the NHC warned of similar threats to Florida’s west coast, with areas from Fort Meyers to Tampa Bay most at risk. It said tropical storm conditions could be expected in central-west Florida by Tuesday evening, with heavy rainfall forecast for the Florida Keys and southern Florida. Credit: NASA via Storyful
