Has NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover found something important on the surface of the Red Planet – perhaps even traces of life?

NASA is to announce new findings from Curiosity in a conference streamed live worldwide on Thursday.

Naturally, the usual UFO fans have jumped on this and are suggesting it’s probably aliens – or at least some sign of life on the Red Planet.

We should point out here that NASA press conferences are always hyped to the skies by UFO fans – then it turns out to be something important, but not alien-related.

This time, UFO fans are particularly excited because one of the scientists, Jennifer Eigenbrode, is described as an ‘astrobiologist’.

NASA is remaining characteristically tight-lipped, but has confirmed the announcement will feature ‘new science results from NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover’.

NASA’s Curiosity Rover has explored the surface of Mars for five years, and has recently resumed drilling into rocks on the surface.

NASA says, ‘The media and public are invited to ask questions during a live discussion at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, June 7, on new science results from NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover.’

The event will be streamed live worldwide on NASA television and via the space agency website.

NASA’s Jennifer Eigenbrode said in an interview this year, ‘I look at organic molecules in rocks, ice and sediments and try to figure out where they came from and what happened to them over time. I want to know their story. Are they from life?’
