'Nastiest Severe Storm I've Ever Seen': Thunderstorm Lashes Maryland

A severe thunderstorm struck Bel Air, in northern Maryland, on July 12, downing power lines and uprooting trees, according to local media.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeast Maryland. It warned of wind gusts up to 60 mph and hailstones as large as quarters.

Giovanni Rizzotti recorded this footage while taking shelter inside a health club in Bel Air. In the video he is warned to stay away from the glass and a voice describes it as the “nastiest severe storm I’ve ever seen.”

Another person is heard saying she thinks there might be a tornado. Media reported that four possible tornado locations were reported to the NWS, but there had not yet been official confirmation of a tornado touchdown.
