'Nasty' five-car A14 crash leaves woman in critical condition
A woman has been left with life-threatening injuries after a five-vehicle crash on the A14 near Newmarket on Friday night (November 22). The police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the collision.
Emergency services attended the scene on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 36 and 37 at around 11:40pm. At first, the crash involved a single vehicle, a grey Nissan Silva.
Further collisions happened soon after and involved a grey Volvo, a grey Ford Ecosport, and a blue Peugeot. The fifth vehicle left the scene before the police arrived and remains unidentified.

The driver of the Ford, a woman, 40, and a passenger, a boy, 11, both from Mundford, Norfolk, were taken to hospital. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition and the boy suffered serious injuries.
A man, 45, from Wymondham, Norfolk, who was driving the Volvo, was also taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries. Both of the drivers of the Nissan and Peugeot were unharmed.
Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a nasty collision which has left three people seriously injured. I would like to hear from anyone who was driving on the eastbound or westbound carriageways who may have dashcam footage any of the collisions taking place, or any vehicles which drove through the scene at any stage.
"I would also like to appeal to the occupants of the vehicle that left the scene to get in touch as you may have vital information which would greatly assist our investigation.”
An East of England Ambulance spokesperson said: "Two ambulances, a paramedic car, two Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles and East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the Eastbound A14 near Swaffham Prior shortly before midnight on Friday 22 November, following reports of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision.
"A woman and a child were transported by road ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital."
