Nathan Sykes rose to fame as one-fifth of boyband The Wanted, but after announcing their split in 2014, the singer locked himself away in the studio to work on solo material. Now, with three hit singles under his belt and a much hyped second album set to be released later this year, life couldn’t be better for the 23-year-old Gloucester-born star.

He said: “I feel very fortunate, I have friends at home who are just leaving Uni and getting into their first job. It is really good to say that I have already travelled the world and had some incredible experiences. I am bringing out my second debut album which is cool.”

Though he acknowledged his great fortune already, he’s not resting on his laurels and is determined to crack America.

He said: “Everyone dreams of making it all around the world so I am concentrating worldwide. In America I have had some great support from the radio stations. We are just about to release my new single Over and Over there; it’s got a lot of airplay in the US already, which is incredible.”

With all that going on, how does the hunk find time for romance? Well, he doesn’t.

What’s more, when Nathan set up a Tinder account, unsurprisngly his matches didn’t believe it was really him and he admits he gave up.

Asked if he finds time for a relationship, he revealed: “I certainly can’t. But it’s one of them things, if you go looking for it, you’ll never find it! It always happens in the most unexpected of places. I am just not going to look and then it might happen! I can’t be arsed with dating apps I would be terrible.

“When I was writing the album one of the producers tried to get me on Tinder, he was like ‘mate it will be hilarious.’ So I signed up and the girls were like ‘your not Nathan Sykes,’ I was like ‘brilliant.’ ”

The Kiss Me Quick singer went on to say he hasn’t ruled out a love life completely, but joked it could be some time off!

He told us: “I’m not looking but if it comes along, great. Although, I think it would be unfair to get into a relationship, because I am so busy and travelling all over the place. I am only 23; there will be some time in the future to have a relationship. When I retire at about the age of 76!”

Meanwhile, Nathan trained at Sylvia Young Theatre School in acting as well as music and revealed to us he wouldn’t rule out a foray into Hollywood, following the likes of One Direction star Harry Styles who bagged a role opposite Tom Hardy in Dunkirk.

He said: “I think acting would be something I would really enjoy! At the moment I am very much focussed on my music, but if anything came up on the side, I would think about it!”

But for now, life is all about being creative in the studio and pushing boundaries in his music videos.

Speaking about the recent drama over his Give It Up promo - which was banned from TV after being deemed too sexy - he said: “I had a blast filming that video though, I think obviously you have to play by the rules and with that video there was too many steamy shots in one go. We had to do a cheeky little re-edit and just make it less cheeky. I think it showed a different side of me and it got my acting going.”

What might surprise some fans is that despite it being just two years since they announced their hiatus, Nathan doesn’t keep in touch with half of his The Wanted bandmates and doesn’t think they’ll reunite anytime soon.

Speaking about the Glad You Came hitmakers - which includes Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker - he confessed to us: “Everyone is very busy, The Wanted was my life. It wasn’t just a job, it is 24/7 and you live on top of each other. I still class Jay as a really good friend. He’s a really nice person. And Tom, I’m not so sure about where the others are at but I’m sure they are very busy and very happy.”

He added: “Obviously I am very focused on my solo career at the moment, so I haven’t thought about the band ever getting back together, but you never know what is going to happen in the future. If there was an opportunity and everyone wanted to, it’s a conversation, but if everyone is still happy doing their own thing, then I think everyone will just be happy to continue as they are.”
