Nationwide has told potential customers they could nab an extra £200 by switching their main account. The building society is reaching out to individuals who don't currently hold a primary account with them, promising a cash incentive to make the move.

The initiative is part of a broader trend where banks compete for new customers by offering cash incentives for switching accounts. Financial experts often recommend these deals as they can be an easy way to earn extra money, and the switching process is typically straightforward and quick.

In an effort to draw in more customers to their current accounts, Nationwide has been actively contacting potential clients, reports Birmingham Live. Nationwide said: "As a building society, we put our members first. Which is why we have a member exclusive current account offer."

The building society continued: "All you need to do is switch your main account to us online and we'll credit your account with £200. Use the Current Account Switch Service online to open a Nationwide FlexPlus, FlexAccount or FlexDirect Account."

Nationwide assures that the switch is easy: "The process is straightforward and you can switch in just seven days. You choose the date you switch, which must be completed within 28 days of you requesting it.

"We take care of moving your balance and payments, but you do need at least two active direct debits. Make sure you tick the box to close the account with your existing provider and you are all done. You could receive the £200 within 10 days of the full switch being completed, and it will be paid into the account you switch to."
