NatWest is sending customers a free payment of £180 in a handy Christmas boost. NatWest says apply online or via its mobile app to open a new Reward account and switch your current account held elsewhere using the Current Account Switch Service.

This means your old bank account will close and any funds and Direct Debits will move over to NatWest - making you eligible for a £180 payment. If you're an existing customer, you can switch your account held elsewhere in to an existing eligible Reward account, or switch in and upgrade an existing account to one of the Reward accounts.

To be eligible for the offer, within 60 days of completing the switch, you must have an eligible Reward account, and then pay in £1,250. This can be made of multiple payments and must remain in the account for 24 hours. Log in to the NatWest mobile app.

If you already have the app, you’ll need to be on the latest version. When you've met these conditions, the high street bank says it will pay £180 into your eligible account within 7 days. Specific account eligibility criteria and monthly fees apply.

If you've previously received a switch incentive from NatWest Group, you won't be eligible for this offer. You must have a NatWest Reward, Reward Silver, Reward Platinum, Premier Reward, or Premier Reward Black account (‘eligible account’).

This can be an existing eligible account you hold, a new account you open, or an existing account converted to an eligible account. NatWest said: "After you’ve completed all these steps, we’ll pay £180 into your eligible account within 7 calendar days."

It added: "We won’t pay £180 if the eligible account is closed or converted to a non-eligible account before the payment is made, even if you’ve met all required conditions."
