Navalny Supporters Chant 'Freedom' Outside Police Station

Supporters of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny chanted his name and “freedom” outside a police station where he was being held and which had been designated a courtroom of sorts on January 18.

Navalny demanded media outlets be allowed into the hearing, which he had earlier decried as “illegal”.

He was detained the day before on his return to Russia from Germany, where he spent five months recovering from his poisoning in August 2020. Credit: openrussia_team via Storyful
