Navy Commissions USS Detroit, Newest Littoral Combat Ship

The United States Navy held a commission ceremony for their newest Freedom variant littoral combat ship, the USS Detroit, on October 22.

This footage shows the ship’s crew marching up its gangplank.

The vessel is the sixth ship named in honor of Detroit, and its lineage includes a British sloop-of-war captured by the US Navy during the War of 1812 and a 1923 cruiser which earned six battle stars in World War II missions.
