CBS has confirmed that NCIS spin-off shows Los Angeles and New Orleans have been renewed for the 2019-2020 season.

The network's official Twitter announced the news on Monday (April 22), writing: "Thrilled to share that #NCISLA and #NCISNOLA have been renewed for the 2019-2020 season!"

NCIS: Los Angeles will be back for its eleventh season, while NCIS: New Orleans enters its sixth.

This comes after the recent news that the main NCIS series has been renewed for its seventeenth season.

The network's entertainment president, Kelly Kahl, announced on Thursday (April 11): "NCIS has been a global juggernaut for almost two decades. Its viewers are clearly the most loyal of any drama on television. They are passionate about the characters, the plot lines, and the storytelling.

"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the gifted production team and the cast, led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will remain a lynchpin of the CBS schedule this coming season."

NCIS: Los Angeles is set for a huge TV event later this season, when it airs a crossover featuring David James Elliott and Catherine Bell from JAG, the long-cancelled series that originally spun off NCIS.

The main NCIS series featured a major revelation of its own earlier this season – Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) was not actually killed off several seasons ago as fans were led to believe.

NCIS airs on CBS in the US, and on FOX UK in the UK.
