This Sunday, East Park is set to transform into a magical wonderland as nearly 200 elves don their running shoes for Mental Elf 2024.

This festive 5k fun run aims to bring joy, community spirit, and a whole lot of sparkle to kick-start the Christmas season. The event is organised by local mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, and it raises crucial funds to support mental health services across the region.

Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or just someone who enjoys a good elf costume, Mental Elf is open to everyone. Now in its third year, Mental Elf 2024 promises a day filled with festive fun and community spirit.

Participants can run, jog, or walk at their own pace while basking in the cheerful atmosphere. Dressing up is encouraged, with prizes for the best-dressed elves adding to the excitement, though costumes are optional.

The event is family-friendly, offering free entry for children under five and discounted rates for families and groups. Everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a medal and a goody bag as a keepsake of the day.

Alongside the 5k, attendees can enjoy a variety of festive activities, making it an ideal way to kick off the holiday season. Marie-Louise Robinson, Community Fundraiser at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, shares her excitement: "Mental Elf is more than a run—it’s a celebration of community, wellbeing, and Christmas cheer!

"Whether you’re sprinting, strolling, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to connect with loved ones, embrace the holiday season, and support a cause close to our hearts. While elf costumes are encouraged, they're not mandatory, but we hope to see many participants in festive attire. It's the ideal way to embrace the holiday season while supporting those struggling with their mental health in the local community."

Tickets are still available at www.heymind.org.uk/mental-elf. Every ticket and donation helps Hull and East Yorkshire Mind continue providing vital support to locals experiencing poor mental health.
