Nearly a Foot of Snow Expected in Maine as Storm Brings Strong Winds

Nearly a foot of snow was expected in Caribou, Maine, on December 3, after a winter storm dumped two inches in 45 minutes, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. The NWS said the wind was picking up as well.

As of 1.45 pm, five and a half inches of snow had been recorded in Caribou, with about another six inches expected by 9 pm.

The NWS also added that one of its employees came to work "the right way today … on a snowmobile.

“Road travel is horrific right now, especially in Northern Maine. Gradual improvement through the evening,” the weather service posted on Twitter.

Most of the northeast and midwest US have been affected by heavy snow since the weekend as a winter storm moved over the country.
