Yahoo News 'You needed more pizzazz': Mel B insults Queen's Roger Taylor
Queen’s hits are some of the best-known in music, their story was the subject of the Best Actor-winning film, and they were chosen to open the Oscars – but none of that put Mel B off giving their performance an X Factor-style critique.
The band, which now includes singer Adam Lambert in place of the late Freddie Mercury, had the Oscars audience on their feet with their performance at the start of the ceremony.
But when drummer Roger Taylor appeared on Good Morning Britain’s special Hollywood-based show to discuss his star turn, he was taken aback by Spice Girl Mel B telling him he needed “more pizzazz”.

Taylor had just been telling hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that he hadn’t suffered any nerves ahead of performing ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’ when Mel decided to weigh in with her take on it.
She told him: “I did say that I wanted more pizzazz, but you can’t get away from the opening of the Oscars being what it is.
“There’s pressure, there’s a lot of eyeballs on it and Adam Lambert, the whole thing, did do great. I just wanted more pizzazz. Sorry.”

Mel is known for her straight talking when she has made guest judging appearances on The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, but as part of rock royalty, Taylor obviously didn’t expect to be on the receiving end of her pointers for improvement.
He asked her whether she meant that she wanted more pizzazz from the whole Oscars show, but refusing to take the diplomatic way out, Mel replied: “Just from the opening number.”
Luckily, Taylor was able to laugh off the insult and talked about how impressed he was with Best Actor winner Rami Malek’s representation of Freddie Mercury in the film Bohemian Rhapsody.
He said: “He got really close spiritually, he had it in the eyes, he was in a different body. He was physically different to Freddie, but he was incredible in the role.”
