Neighbours' comedy queen Sheila Canning is left devastated next week as an exciting day at The Waterhole ends in tears.

Show bosses are lining up an emotional new storyline for Sheila (Colette Mann), which sees her friends and family grow concerned about her frequent memory lapses.

Although it takes a while for Sheila to face up to the problem, her issues hit home after her boyfriend Clive Gibbons (Geoff Paine) organises a big surprise for her at work.

Clive has arranged for Australian pop star Ross Wilson – who guest stars as himself – to give a performance at The Waterhole.

Sheila couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to meet her hero, admitting that she's his biggest fan ever.

Clearly enjoying the attention, Ross invites Sheila up to sing his song 'Eagle Rock' with him – but her mind suddenly becomes jumbled, causing her to panic and rush off.

When Sheila's loved ones hurry to comfort her in the Waterhole office, she admits that she couldn't remember the words to the song.

Sheila confesses to Clive that she's been having trouble with her memory for a while and thinks it could be Alzheimer's. Will Sheila's worst fears be realised?

In real life, Ross Wilson is the stepfather of Neighbours star Olympia Valance, who also features in these scenes in her role as Paige Smith.

In a cheeky move from the Neighbours writers, Ross is forced to list his credentials to Paige after she complains that she's never heard of him and questions his success in the music industry.

Ross is best known in Australia as the frontman of rock groups Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock. He's been inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame twice.
