Neighbours' April Rose Pengilly is known for portraying Chloe Brennan, but the star has revealed which of her castmates came very close to playing her role.
In a new Instagram post, April paid tribute to co-star Bonnie Anderson, who is leaving the role of Bea Nilsson later this year, and slipped in a fun fact that Bonnie auditioned for Chloe before she was offered another character.
"If you have not yet heard, Ramsay Street is losing its little Bonza @bonnieandersonmusic!" she wrote.
"Fun fact: it was actually down to Bonnie and I for the role of Chloe! I remember seeing her waiting to do her final audition as I was on the way out after doing mine.
"In the end, they decided that I was more of a Chloe, but they wrote a new role just for her because they loved her so much – and it isn't hard to see why!"
Addressing the photo itself, April added: "The snap is from our last scene together, which will air in about 3 months.
"We didn't get much time together for the past year as we were divided due to COVID, but it still won't be the same without her."
Bonnie recently finished filming her final scenes, describing it as an "end of an era" at the time.
"The decision was a little bit difficult, but I knew I made the right decision for myself and my future," she said on co-star Sharon Johal's We Are the Real Ones podcast.
"I feel like I've always been somebody that wants to challenge myself, somebody who wants to take risks, and I feel like that's the way I grow."
No details for Bea's exit storyline have been revealed so far.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
