Neighbours' Jason Donovan explains why returning as Scott doesn't feel right

From Digital Spy

Former Neighbours star Jason Donovan has explained why he wouldn't want to reprise his role as Scott Robinson in the long-running series... again.

While promoting his upcoming stint on ITV's Dancing on Ice, the Australian soap legend weighed in on whether or not he'd be interested in returning to the show one day – even if it was just for a small cameo.

"The problem with that is the publicity would be bigger than the moment itself," he told Heat magazine. "You'd have to go in there and commit for a long period. If you just made a two or three-week appearance, it becomes a publicity stunt.

"That's not what I need at the moment, and not what she needs, so it doesn't feel right at the moment."

Elsewhere in the interview, the 52 year old opened up about his daughter Jemma joining the cast over three decades after he did.

"You know, I don't believe in luck, you create your own luck in life. Jemma had already done a couple of shows, including a Netflix series and a BBC comedy drama called Mr Stink with Hugh Bonneville," he said.

"She's passionate about acting and that's all she needs. She's got a strong work ethic. There's not much more to it than that, really.

"She has a bit of pedigree invested in the show," Donovan continued, referencing the fact that his father Terence also starred in it. "So it was the right place for her."

Neighbours airs weekdays on Channel 5 (UK) and 10 Peach (Australia).
