Paige Smith's life hangs in the balance on Neighbours next week as the Aussie soap airs another explosive week of episodes that fans won't want to miss.

Paige, Father Jack Callahan, Susan Kennedy and Piper Willis will be among those taking centre stage when a trip out into the bush has worrying consequences, leaving viewers fearing for some of their favourite characters.

The drama kicks off when heavily-pregnant Paige (Olympia Valance) decides that she wants to pay a visit to the abandoned shack where her baby was conceived last year.

Paige fell pregnant after sleeping with Father Jack (Andrew Morley) in the midst of the balloon crash disaster back in October – and she reckons that re-visiting the shack will be cathartic now she's in the final stage of her pregnancy.

Susan and Piper both join Paige on the trip, waiting in the car while she heads off on a dirt track towards the barn.

Sadly, bad luck is about to strike all three of them as Paige's waters break while she's inside. In a second case of bad timing (it's one of those days!), Susan then finds herself in no fit state to drive Paige off to the hospital as she suffers a sudden relapse with her MS.

Susan feels disorientated and weak as her symptoms flare up again, although she's unaware that it's because her arch-nemesis Finn Kelly has sneakily tampered with her medication.

To make matters even worse, Piper is also unable to help as she's still in pain after breaking her leg in the Backpackers crash – and her own attempt to drive just leaves her in even more agony.

With all three Neighbours favourites trapped, Paige faces a nightmare labour as she deals with the worrying prospect of giving birth without any medical help.

These dramatic new pictures show Paige and her newborn child being rushed out of the shack after Father Jack and Dr Karl (Alan Fletcher) have finally arrived on the scene to help, but will mum and baby be okay?

And what's in store for Susan, who's also in a bad way?
