Neighbours joker Sheila Canning is left shaken next week, after coming face-to-face with an enemy from her past.

Sheila is forced to confront some upsetting memories when she receives a visit from Joanne Schwartz, who bullied her in high school.

The storyline begins when Sheila rehearses for a one-woman show and Karl Kennedy picks up on the fact that she seems very cagey about her teenage years.

After some persuasion, Sheila mentions Joanne – revealing that she was once her best friend, but Joanne later turned on her and bullied her so badly that she quit school.

Sheila is clearly still affected as she recalls traumatic experience, but Xanthe optimistically thinks that a new meeting with Joanne could help to bring closure.

Although Sheila shuts down the suggestion, Xanthe makes contact regardless and it's not long before Joanne pops up in Erinsborough.

Sadly, it quickly becomes obvious that Joanne hasn't changed her mean girl ways – especially when she reminds Sheila of her disastrous attempt to take to the stage in high school.

With her confidence knocked, Sheila decides to pull the plug on her one-woman performance. Can her loved persuade her otherwise?

This storyline was first hinted in September, when Neighbours bosses announced the casting of Val Lehman in the guest role of Joanne.

Val previously worked with Colette Mann – aka Sheila – 30 years ago on the iconic Aussie drama Prisoner: Cell Block H. Val starred as "Top Dog" Bea Smith in the series.

Speaking about her Neighbours casting a few weeks ago, Val revealed: "I was very surprised and delighted to receive the call about the role, something I thought would never happen.

"This an interesting role because on Prisoner my character Bea played the protector of Colette's Doreen character, whereas in this story, we are very much at odds."

Neighbours airs these scenes on Friday, December 1 at 1.30pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
