Neighbours teases reunion for Harold as Gino returns

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours has revealed a first look at Harold Bishop reuniting with old friend Gino Esposito.

Shane McNamara has reprised his role as Gino, who was one of the most memorable recurring characters of the show's noughties era.

Spoiler pictures for this week's episodes have previously shown Gino return as the latest addition to the Eirini Rising retirement community.

Gino will be sharing scenes with Karl and Susan Kennedy in this Thursday's episode (September 19).

New pictures have now revealed that Gino will be featuring in episodes beyond this too.

On Wednesday, October 2, Gino crosses paths with Harold – giving the friends an opportunity for a much-needed catch-up.

The pair are seen at The Waterhole together after venturing out of Eirini Rising for the afternoon.

Gino featured on Neighbours on and off between 2000 and 2007. Claude Stevens played the role for Gino's first episode in 2000, but Shane took over the part for his subsequent appearances.

Gino was the owner of the A Good Hair Day salon, which employed Lyn Scully.

He's also notable for being among Neighbours' first gay male characters, paving the way for more prominent representation in subsequent years when characters like Chris Pappas and Aaron Brennan became show regulars.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy earlier this year, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison had teased the arrival of more familiar faces at Eirini Rising following the returns of Harold and Hilary Robinson.

Herbison said: "Harold and Hilary will indeed be joined by further faces from the past, but it will happen organically. I didn't want to open the doors and suddenly bring back every older character imaginable.

"I also love that we might revisit some characters who weren't regulars in the past but have aged in the community."

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee and Prime Video in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach Comedy.
