While on the 17th hole, the pro golfer could be seen in a video posted on LPGA’s Twitter (now known as X) smiling and wearing a Blackhawks jersey — which did not bear a number or name — as she walked on the green while the announcers discussed Athanasiou’s career.
The Blackhawks account replied to the video, “Things you love to see.”

“It’s fun to be a part of. She played so well,” Athanasiou told reporters after her win, which was Korda’s first with him in attendance. “It’s exciting, I mean watching is totally different than playing. I have so much anxiety out there, every shot I’m so worried. I mean, being in the moment is so much easier. But she played so well. I’m so happy for her.”
He continued, “It’s so nerve-wracking being on the sidelines, [I] can only imagine what mom and dad are saying when they watch. I’m happy to be a part of it, I’m happy to be here and see the win, the first one I get to be a part of. So I’m sure there will be many more and I’m excited for her.”
“She’s so good. You know, she held it together. She had some swing changes a little bit, and I was happy to be a part of it. And Grand Rapids you know, I’ve played here a little bit,” Athanasiou added, referencing his time playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. “It’s cool. The fans out here are so awesome, and they were so happy for her. I was happy to be a part of it with them.”
