Netball World Cup 2019: Results, fixtures, live streams and TV, how it works and winner predictions
The 2019 Netball World Cup gets under way this week in Liverpool, as 16 teams battle it out to be crowned champions on July 21.
Here is what you need to know for the tournament!
How it works
The 16 teams are split into four groups - England are in D with Uganda, Scotland and Samoa. The top three in each form Groups F and G in the second phase, while the losers file into Group E.
The top two of F and G go into the semis a week on Saturday, with the final on Sunday.
Live streams and TV
All matches are at the 11,000-capacity M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool and the tournament is live on Sky Sports and on the BBC and iPlayer.
A Sky Sports day pass is also available via Now TV with a day pass on offer for £8.99.
Sky Sports subscribers can stream the match online via SkyGo and the SkyGo app.
Predictions
Former England star Tamsin Greenway (below) on the big World Cup questions...
Who will win it?
I’ve got to go for England, with Australia as runners-up. But I wouldn’t rule out Jamaica either. I think with the defensive unit they have, they are going to be one to watch. And New Zealand and South Africa can beat any of those top three teams on their day.
Surprise packages?
Uganda are ones to watch with the way they’ve been playing and the access they’ve had to some of the elite teams. You can never write Malawi off either. They are not coming with their strongest squad but will be there or thereabouts. Northern Ireland can give people a run for their money.
Star players?
From Australia you have got to look out for Gretel Tippett, such a different player at goal attack. New Zealand captain Laura Langman is another to watch and Helen Housby for England. Keep an eye on Samantha Wallace of Trinidad & Tobago and Shamera Sterling from Jamaica, too — they are going to set the world alight.
Sky will show all matches from today, with England’s first three games (v Uganda, Scotland and Samoa) on Sky Sports Netball.
